Meet your instructor

Maria Savala-Mahany, M.Ed MFT

Mrs. Savala-Mahany has a Master’s degree with an emphasis on Women’s’ Issues and Adolescent Behavioral Health. She is a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor from The District of Columbia. She has over 27 years of counseling experience with individuals, families, and groups. She has experience working in various social settings: schools, counseling agencies, medical centers, and outpatient clinics. She also has experience in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and supervision, and has worked with many diverse populations. Maria has had horses her whole life and was certified for over 10 years as an Equine Specialist. She has offered Equine Assisted Psychotherapy services to families, children, and adults with cognitive, social, emotional, and other life challenges.
